I am now -definitely- going to new york for my college spring break (march 23-april 1).. i am a stickler and love to do what i'm used to and was going to go up to SF again, because i already have but......

just checked ticketmaster and this is what i found:

allman brothers doing a huge run at the beacon (someone mentioned this before, but i thought my break did not correspond) They are going from like.. 3/23-3/30 or something (right now on tixmaster there are -zero- tickets, at all, but my mother is the ebay queen, so i'm hopin she can help me out)
.
.
Sat, 03/24/07
09:00 PM Tea Leaf Green Irving Plaza
New York, NY

^ someone on here mentioned this band, and said they were a good jam band, so i'm gunna see them for sure
.
.
.
elton john is playing (i would like to see him if i cant get tickets for allmans)
.
lez zeppelin (hell, i'd see a led z cover band..)
.

David crosby w/ graham nash (i would love to see this, as when i saw CSNY 7/30/06 meadows, they were totally playing off of eachother and grooving)
.
and finally, widespread panic.

I am so excited that I had to rant on here, because all my friends listen to contemporary music, and would not see the significance of this..
If my first show was CSNY, and then my second show was the allman bro's, I would have a helluva story to tell my children (whom i will raise groovily, to appreciate this good music), and then, with my boggled brain right now, I don't even know, but i am super excited, i have a lot of money saved up, and if i see the allmans, i gotta get real good seats... at the CSNY show, my mother was in charge of getting tickets, cuz i don't have a credit card, and I told her I was willing to pay big money (300 dollarS) for very good seats, but she ended up buying one's where I could see the band, but not super good, and i needed bino's to really see neil shredding it up.. So this time, i'm gunna let her know =) Also another thing is that... The only allman songs i have -ever- consciously heard and know are jessica, whipping post and dreams (dreams is a goody).. also i have heard parts of the mountain jam.. So basically, i'd be going off everyone recommendation (and i believe everyone that they are awesome) that they are jammy and sick.

That concludes the last hour before I wrote this.

Hey Max - for Allman Bros. check out Eat a Peach ( fabulous Mt. Jam ) or live at Fillmore, there's two versions/additions/etra tracks. One of my all time favorite tunes of theirs is in Memory of Elizabeth Reed.

take a mix of cash and travelers checks - best things you can do - trav checks can be a pain, but can be a godsend if stolen (and are as good as cash when spending)

I don't know if you're going to that festival for just one day to see Ratdog, but if you're going for both, make sure to check out Papa Mali. One of the best modern blues players around now, and you can get some of his shows here on the Archive.

Hey Cush - thinking about making the festival drive from Albuquerque, NM with the girl and kid. Is is very kid friendly? Camping nearby? Have you been to the other shows? Appreciate the info.

Hi Dali, hope this finds you... and well too! Sorry for the delay, got a little sidetracked. I have not been to one of these shows (I think this will be the 4th). last years lineup just didn't grab me and the first two, I just couldn't do. As far as what I do know is that people I've talked to have been pretty positive about it in general. It does seem to be pretty kid friendly and there is camping available at the site, rv and tent. I think the tent camping is on a grassy area too. the weather should be pretty nice, but late April can get warm! Bring shade! I'll attach the festival link here again, and you may certainly email me... cush212@yahoo Look forward to meeting you all, this looks to me like a fine weekend of music and could be a big one!

Nice.. I did you like that 7/9/95 show? Yeah man got a little teary eyed off of that one. I still remember that show as if it were yesterday. I was walking into subway and this kind brother whose name was ashley took one look at me and smiled and said hey come over here. So I strolled over there and he threw down on my tongue a 10 strip and just walked off, let me tell you off i was. I heard so many roads that night and it sent chills up the ol spine I think I kinda knew it was coming. So anyways Hows the colection coming? Fuck I can't spell

Spontaneity at it's best i'd say..

Hell, I gotta see these guys while i can you know? who knows if csny will all play together again? It seemed like there was a whole lot of tension between neil young and stephen stills for some reason..

If you're ever without a credit card again -- try PaidByCash -- you can buy anything online -- just order somthing, and then walk down to a Rite-Aid, K-Mart, 7-11 (they say 60,000 US locations) and pay for it with cash. Any site that accepts MasterCard accepts PaidByCash.

I strongly recommend ABB at the Beacon. According to the ABB website forums, that venue is their and the fans holy grail. Maybe a near impossible ticket to get though. You'll have fum regardless. 1st time in the big apple? I agree with the others not to rely soley on your atm. A couple travellers checks or well hidden 50's (not hidden in your room either!)Its not as bad as many people perceive. Just be smart and you'll be fine. I've been dozens of times and never had a problem. Try to avoid being solo, stay around where there are plenty of people. You know, shortcuts down a dark alley will create a verse from Loose Lucy you don't need. Have fun.
